‘Almanac’ by Lions Leading Sheep is slow-burning, intense post-hardcore. These Ottawa natives “have received airplay on some top alternative rock radio stations and will begin touring this July in promotion of the [new] album,” Echoes and Anchors. Bringing a radio rock sensibility to post-hardcore isn’t new, but the use of traditional pop synths, pianos and more operatic, hard rock-oriented vocals on here give this track real mainstream potential. This rings especially true in the Canadian market which has historically been more receptive to this kind of music. Notably, these guys make good use of the loud-quiet dynamics and on top of everything, the production on here is immaculate. It’s almost too clean. These guys are real up-and-comers.
