‘The Usual Spot’ by Alex Dagner Is Warbled, Introspective Guitar Music

5 23 18 Alex DagnerAlex Dagner’s ‘The Usual Spot’ is introspective, wavy indie rock. This “21-year-old musician from Ohio,” really embodies the exhaustion of teen angst. The warbled, whining guitar solo at the beginning of the song serves as a strong preview of the rest of the piece’s content. Dagner’s calm, monotone vocals further that aesthetic. Lyrically, ‘The Usual Spot’ is deeply relatable. It really captures the weirdly calm anxiety that defines the later years of high school and the relational transition into adulthood. The musicianship on here is strong in general, but this is definitely a guitar-oriented tune. ‘The Usual Spot’ is absolutely worth a listen. It may even find it’s way into your regular rotation.
