Windbury Street’s ‘Sarah’ Is Lo-Fi Whitting Emo with Southern Charm

6 9 18 Windbury StreetWindbury Street’s ‘Sarah’ is patient, ringing emo with a distinct southern flair. This unnamed musician describes himself as a, “one man indie emo project from Nashville started a year ago in my bedroom.” Although this guy still does “all the writing and recording” himself, this new single “marks the beginning of sending songs off to be professionally mixed and mastered.” Although this certainly clings to a lot of emo tropes pretty closely, this seemingly Empire! Empire!-inspired project is a strong, inspiring example of an individual’s determination and passion for a specific kind of music. Although it doesn’t brush the progressive technicality of bands like This Town Needs Guns or American Football, the guitar-work on here is well-done. Personally, I hear some Northstar in there, but I’m having trouble putting my finger on exactly where. Maybe it’s the southern charm. Anyways, keep tabs on this project and check out ‘Sarah’ below!
