Spun’s ‘Guarantees’ Is Delightfully Gloomy British Alt-Rock

6 18 18 Spun.jpgSpun’s ‘Guarantees’ is fuzzy, gritty nineties-style alt-rock with a British post-hardcore flare. “Dangerously close to breaking the 3 minute mark,” they say, “Guarantees is about frustration towards compliance and repetition in every day life and wanting something different.” Inspired by groups like “The Misfits, Deftones, The Smashing Pumpkins and Jawbreaker, Spun was formed at the start of 2017 with the intention of making unashamedly distorted guitar music. Swerving more polished, aspirational sounds, Spun endeavour to offer something raw and obnoxious.” These guys have a great guitar tone on lock. Behind that, the rhythm section is ballsy and coursing. The group definitely takes a lot from its forbearers, but they put a uniquely gloomy yet attitudinally sarcastic flair on their work that’s hard by. This band is going places.
