‘American Kids’ by War Twins is delightfully on-point female-fronted hard rock. The band has purportedly “become known for their dynamic live set full of passionate energy, rock n’ roll soul and deep electronics. A growing buzz has taken them from their hometowns on the east coast to a string of successful nationwide tours and their new home in Los Angeles.” There’s definitely some punk rock soul in this group, but it’s imbued in a splendidly grungy classic rock structure that’s broadly appealing and really engaging. The slow, simple chords that make up this song are the perfect backdrop for the passionate, unabashedly feminine crooning that ties the whole piece together. These guys are really going places.
