Engine Summer’s ‘Dawson’s Creek’ Is Stringy, Vibe-Oriented Shoegaze

9 19 18 Engine Summer.jpegEngine Summer’s ‘Dawson’s Creek’ is stringy, vibe-oriented shoegaze with a slow pace and lo-fi tone. “6AM AT THE CAR PARK, SLIGHT DRIZZLE 56 DEGREES,” is the tagline these guys use to describe this tune. It seems beyond fitting. The slow, delicate guitar work that defines this song has a lot of emotional dynamism. It communicates something clear, but at the same time there’s a lot about it, along with with accenting synths, that’s like kind of open-ended. Under that, the rhythm section really keeps everything in check nicely. And of course, the glumly funny, personality-rich vocals are the perfect way to top this off. This is a neat little track from a dope band. Check out ‘Dawson’s Creek’ below!
