‘Waves’ by Coattails is whirring, cinematic alt rock with a classically pensive sensibility. This band believes “in the journey, they believe in their art, they believe it will bring fulfillment and through their belief, they hope to affect those who will listen.” Utilizing their “foundation built on brotherhood, understanding, and accountability, Coattails are able to express to each other and the audience, a prismatic reflection of their reality distilled into music.” The group’s strength lies in its ability to create full, compelling sonic environments. This track fluctuates between creepy piano-laden interludes and driving, intense bursts of emotion. They bring a cool classic rock intensity reminiscent of The Doors and Blue Oyster Cult to thoughtful, layered compositions that wouldn’t be out of place on a Radiohead album.
