‘Mo’s Desert Clubhouse’ by Wharves Is Crackling, Spastic Modern Post-Punk

10 22 18 Wharves‘Mo’s Desert Clubhouse’ by Wharves is dynamic, high-energy post-punk with a spastically anxious retro approach. “The music for this track came from our Sapphire Sessions in March 2018,” the band says, when they “stayed in a beautiful house near the beach in Coffs Harbour and jammed for three days straight.” These guys are bringing a lot of different things to the table. There’s definitely a very clear DEVO vibe on here, but at the same time there’s a darker, more serious approach reminiscent of Franz Ferdinand or Queens of the Stone Age. It’s definitely rooted to some extent in the early 2000s garage rock movement, but there’s a kind of zany theatricality featured on the track that really sets it apart. This is a neat track from a unique band. Check out ‘Mo’s Desert Clubhouse’ below!
