Jordan Silver’s ‘Maryland’ Is Narrative Acoustic Music with a Theatrical Approach

10 26 18 Jordan SilverJordan Silver’s ‘Maryland’ is sweet, introspective acoustic music with a surprising level of dynamism. “Jordan Silver is a NYC based singer-songwriter living in Washington Heights,” this twenty-four-year-old who “primarily plays guitar and sings his own music,” says. “He’s also a playwright who focuses on creating a story with the lyrics of his tunes.” This personally-oriented take on what we can assume to be this artist’s childhood home fuses a straightforward, stream of consciousness lyricism with a varying, almost narrative take on instrumentation. The focus on the acoustic guitar and introspective lyrics gives this project a lot of common ground with acts like The Front Bottoms or City and Color. At the same time, the approach here feels rooted in musical theater – a clear set of characters and a well-defined scene form over the course of the song. This is a cool track from an interesting solo project. Check out ‘Maryland’ below!
