Hypergear’s ‘I Am the Dead’ is a groovy, dense take on alternative rock out of Italy. These guys describe themselves as an, “alternative synth-rock trio formed in 2013, then disbanded in 2016 and reformed again in 2018.” The band says in spite of this song’s “simple structure, it has a bit of a complex meaning.” It’s “all about the correlation between sex and death, which are quite opposite but so close, and the issues that a bad relationship can create.” This group definitely covers a lot of ground on this track. They’re bringing together the precision and wonky melodicism that define groups like Coheed and Cambria or Muse with a crusty-yet-clean take on electronic rock. The production on here is really solid and all of the performances are top-notch. This is a neat track from an interesting band. Check out ‘I Am the Dead’ below!
