Figure Eight is an indie band based on Long Island, New York, a scene typically referred to by music lovers as Strong Island. Long Island’s music scene is notorious for emo and pop-punk music, after bands such as Taking Back Sunday, Bayside and Envy on the Coast all rose to stardom. Figure Eight may just be the next emo band to join the collective to rise out of Long Island into worldwide stardom due to their contagious sound. Figure Eight is keeping the classic emo sound alive with their most recent single “Oyster Days.” Does the title come from the Long Island town Oyster Bay or for Long Island’s love for eating oysters? Whatever the case, this band definitely adds some excitement to the local scene. The song starts off with a soft emo sounding vocal and a beautifully played acoustic guitar. The song combines melodic vocals and guitars with a pounding percussion session that carries the emo spirit. More and more energy is put into the track as it reaches it’s finale, showing off the talent that is Figure Eight. Figure Eight has plans to drop their first full length album in the springtime of 2019 titled “Any Given Flower.” For now enjoy “Oyster Days” on Spotify:
