<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Benjamin Brown, alternately known as Benji Brown is an English songwriter and performer who stepped out in 2020 with his debut single ‘Déjà Vu’; a smooth and soulful pop jam, featuring flowing vocals, lush strings and a melody so catchy you’ll be singing it forever after. Following a year in which everyone’s plans dramatically had to change, 22 year-old Benji Brown is set to take 2021 by storm.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With an extensive catalogue of songs waiting in the wings, The first lockdown arrived just two weeks after the release of Benji’s debut single ‘Déjá Vu’, which received a championing premiere from Complex who hailed the track as “Devastatingly charming and uplifting” and “flawlessly smooth”. Despite the promising acclaim for the new artist, the curtailing nature of the lockdown meant Benji’s plans had to swiftly change. Instead of continuing the schedule of releases Benji had for the year, he downed tools and focused on honing his songwriting craft.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Growing up in Northampton, the 23 year-old was surrounded by music from a young age. “Music has always been a part of my life. Growing up surrounded by powerful songwriters I’ve never felt I could compete, until now. With age has come a maturity in my music and artistry that is a commentary of emotions over the past year.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The song starts with a slow paced instrumental and guitar melodies, with Benji’s silky voice blessing us immediately in the first verse. We are carried by his soft vocal delivery straight into the chorus. Here, we are gifted with catchy lyrics that make you want to sing along. The bridge gives us a bit of a slow breakdown that ends the song perfectly. All in all, I find myself <em>holding onto this song more than I’d ever wanna let it all go. </em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What is your favourite part about this song?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>The lyrics, its something that came straight from the heart, it&#8217;s an experience I went through and to be able to write about it shows how much I’ve grown.</em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Where did you record this song, and what are the vibes like in the studio with you?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I recorded this song in June this year with some incredible producers and my friend chase Martinez. The vibe in the studio is always so positive and there&#8217;s a great understanding of what we all want to create. </em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Was this release cathartic for you?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>It was, I felt like I was my own therapist, I got myself into this mess by trusting others and I got myself out of the mess through my expression through my music.</em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What keeps you inspired and motivated?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>My family, seeing how hard they work drives me on, nothing gets handed to you and I want to have my version of success with what I&#8217;m doing with my music.</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I&#8217;m looking to release my debut ep next year and I would love to be able to perform at shows.</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I’m currently really into Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, Jack Harlow &; JVCK JAMES.</em></p>
