<p>Self-described Gaysian Empress of Sydney, <strong>Dyan Tai </strong>(he/they) makes electronic hyperpop music fused with Beijing opera and traditional Southeast Asian soundscapes. Named as one of the outstanding acts to watch at <strong>BigSound</strong> (NME) and praised by <strong>Flume</strong> as for their sound design, Dyan makes ‘sophisticated palette pop” (Rolling Stone) with a “personality that shines up the room” (SXSW Sydney showcase artist).</p>
<p>From humble beginnings in Malaysia to finding a niche on Sydney cabaret stages and now evolving into an electronic artist, the trilingual, Chinese-Australian musician reveals new single “<strong>hehehaha</strong>” set for release on <strong>13th March 2025.</strong></p>
<p>With verses in English and Cantonese, <strong>“hehehaha”</strong> is a hyperpop, bubblegum bass music song written about pronouns and gender fluidity. The use of PC music and gaming audio samples pays homage to genderqueer, non-binary anime and video game characters.</p>
<p>Featuring BVT and Jamaica Moana, <strong>“hehehaha”</strong> is the first single off Dyan’s new EP, <strong>Supreme </strong>æé« written in collaboration with queer, non-binary and BIPOC artists scheduled for release in mid-2025 supported by SoundNSW.</p>
