South Australia’s Kerin Carr has dropped a blues track that feels like a dispatch from the edge of history. “Tuesday’s News” is what happens when global outrage, grief, and resistance collide with impeccable musicianship and fearless songwriting.
Carr did not write this song from inside the United States, but you can hear how deeply the political crisis here has reverberated across borders. As she puts it, “The shocking events unfolding in the USA are impacting people well beyond the USA’s borders. The horror of it has engulfed the planet.” That sentiment rings painfully true. Trump’s return to power has tampered with world politics in a way that feels destabilizing, frightening, and all too familiar to horrible times in history.
Musically, this track rocks. You could feel every emotion pouring through the speakers. There are organs swelling underneath the verses, amazing guitar licks with serious bite and a remarkable tone that carries real grit. The production is tight and intentional, letting every instrument breathe while still hitting hard. The drum fills deserve special mention. They add drama and tension, pushing the song forward and raising the emotional stakes with every turn. It is classic blues energy sharpened into something urgent and modern.
Lyrically Carr pulls no punches. She draws explicit parallels between Trump’s fascist behavior and historical atrocities, including Nazi Germany in the 1930s, most chillingly referencing The Night of the Long Knives when Hitler ordered extrajudicial murders to consolidate power. Carr understands that history does not just repeat itself. It escalates when people stop paying attention. You can hear that knowledge and dread in the chorus. “I never wanted to sing the blues.” Her raspy vocal delivery cuts straight through, deepening the blues feel and making the despair impossible to ignore.
But this is not just a song about doom. The second verse introduces a flicker of hope. People pushing back and people refusing to stay silent. That resistance is very real right now following the murders of Renee Good, Keith Porter, and Alex Pretti. Currently, there is a general strike happening across the United States, and momentum continues to build. Plus, the next No Kings Protest has been announced and is set for March 28th, 2026. Mark your calendar and figure out how you will show up.
The third verse is devastating. It is about breaking the news to your children. What do you tell them when the world feels like it is falling apart? How do you keep a home alive for them when something inside you feels dead? It is one of the most heartbreaking moments on the track and one of the most honest.
“Tuesday’s News” is a blues song, a protest song, and a historical warning all at once. It is proof that great music does not look away from reality. It stares it down, names it, and demands that we do something about it.
I had watched the coverage of the US election on the Tuesday news in November ‘24 with growing alarm, dismay and disbelief. I was numbed by the outcome. During the following week I wrote this song. I recorded it in late August ‘25 and released it in October ‘25. I don’t have psychic abilities, but I have learnt from history.
