Astrud Aurelia Takes the Stage at Hotel Ziggy for Trans Day of Visibility

If you don’t know Astrud Aurelia yet, Sunday March 29th at Hotel Ziggy in West Hollywood is your moment. This drag artist and multi-instrumentalist draws from 90s art rock, jazz, and progressive rock, and is a genuine force of nature, the kind of performer that makes you stop everything and pay full attention the moment they open their mouth. The Phoenix New Times once described their vocals as having “the character of a fanfare trumpet,” and comparisons to Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley are not hyperbole, this is a voice with rare technical brilliance and raw human vulnerability in equal measure. You can also catch them on Season 4 and Titans 1 of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula on AMC Shudder.

On “Prey” Astrud Aurelia delivers virtuosic guitar playing anchored by a haunted beat, with organic unprocessed vocals that shift effortlessly into head voice with a control and range that leaves you genuinely in awe.

Astrud Aurelia is joined by Ryan Cassata & The Top Surgeons, Kristen Ford, and Lizz Shine & the HRT for a full night of trans and queer music that matters.

Doors open at 6pm, the show runs until 10:30pm, it’s all ages, and 10% of ticket sales go directly to the ACLU Kansas to fight for trans rights.
