The independent music community is rallying behind Peelander-Z, the iconic “Japanese Action Comic Punk” band, following a catastrophic tour van accident outside Albuquerque, New Mexico. On May 18, 2026, the band’s vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck, completely destroying their van and equipment, and leaving all three core members with critical injuries.

Yellow (Kengo), Pink (Yumi), and Tiger were rushed to the ICU. While all three are thankfully conscious, stable, and no longer in life-threatening condition, their injuries are severe. Yellow sustained a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures to his spine, ribs, and arm. Pink suffered a damaged pelvis, broken legs, and internal organ trauma, while Tiger is being treated for a head injury.

Known for their brilliant, color-coded costumes and high-energy, interactive stage shows that bring absolute joy to fans worldwide, the band now faces an incredibly steep climb back to health. With all remaining tour dates canceled, they have lost their primary source of income just as monumental medical bills begin to pile up.

How You Can Help

Independent artists rely entirely on touring to survive, and a crash of this scale is financially devastating. A community fundraiser has been launched to assist with their intensive orthopedic surgeries, neurological care, and long-term physical rehabilitation.

Peelander-Z has spent decades giving their absolute all to make audiences smile. Let’s come together as a community to give that love back and support them through this fight.
