<p><img class=" wp-image-3374 aligncenter" src="https://rockthepigeon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/5-27-18-tommy-leahy.jpeg" alt="5 27 18 Tommy Leahy.jpeg" width="404" height="404" />Tommy Leahy&#8217;s &#8216;Undertow&#8217; is some straightforward, Heartland-inspired indie rock. &#8220;Based out of Philadelphia,&#8221; this musician describes his work as, &#8220;rock and folk&#8230; with nods to the classic albums of the 50&#8217;s, 60&#8217;s and 70&#8217;s.&#8221; Although this is definitely rock music, there are strong, distinctly rural undertones in his music. This is probably due to the time he spent, &#8220;cut[ting] his teeth&#8230; in Nashville&#8230; playing with various indie-rock and songwriter acts before deciding to pursue his own music.&#8221; His simple, consistent chord progressions don&#8217;t sound all that unlike those of Uncle Tupelo. Interestingly, on top of his twangy solos there&#8217;s a diverse array of harmonicas, hair-raising electronics and traditional strings. The whole thing is tied together by Leahy&#8217;s understated, almost neutral vocals. This guy is really a talented musician. Check out &#8216;Undertow&#8217; below!</p>
