Oh my god…are you ready for some real good blues & rock n’ roll music that will hit you smack-dab in the center of your heart? We’ve just discovered Matt Anderson & The Mellotones and fell madly in love with their gigantic rock n’ roll infused sound on their “Live At Olympic Hall” record. We had the opportunity to listen to “Going Down” off of this live record and really believe that we have discovered something special and worthwhile. The band meshes together even while each player shines on their designated instrument. There’s banging drums, there’s incredible horns, there’s guitars that will make your pants drop, there’s vocals that hit you in the chest, and there’s keys that riff so well it’s impossible to not fall in love with this sound. What’s even more impressive about this group is that this song is recorded completely live and it’s flawless from start to finish even as the band starts to jam without a vocal guiding them, they don’t lose their place and they stay in perfect rhythm. Now, we’d love to go catch their live show! For now we’ll have to watch them jam out on YouTube:
