<p><img class=" size-full wp-image-4051 aligncenter" src="https://rockthepigeon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/7-12-18-wsabi-fox.jpg" alt="7 12 18 Wsabi Fox" width="480" height="360" />Wsabi Fox&#8217;s &#8216;Yes Ma&#8217;am&#8217; is dense, progressive rock music with a creepy aesthetic. Jennae Santos, the main force behind this Brooklyn-based project, describes it as, &#8220;performative art-prog.&#8221; As influences, she cites, &#8220;70s British progressive and art rock like King Crimson and Kate Bush,&#8221; as well as, &#8220;modern acts like [the] Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deerhoof, and BjoÌrk.&#8221; The King Crimson is strong in this one. This is most notable in the project&#8217;s extensive use of horns. It also feels like there are distinct progressive metal and mathcore influences. Some comparisons could include Between the Buried and Me, Botch and The Dillinger Escape Plan. It should be noted that the performative aspect of Wsabi Fox is quite unique. In many ways, the music video seems indebted to Peter Gabriel&#8217;s work with Genesis as well as artsy contemporary post-punk projects like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
