<p><img class=" wp-image-4193 aligncenter" src="https://rockthepigeon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/7-23-18-silica.jpeg" alt="7 23 18 Silica" width="443" height="443" />Silica&#8217;s &#8216;Genesis&#8217; is some long-form pop punk that makes significant use of electronic elements. They describe themselves as at the corner of &#8220;punk rock energy,&#8221; and &#8220;indie rock creativity.&#8221; After an extended electronic intro, which creates creates a strong environment for the tune at large, the band jumps into more traditional pop punk territory. These guys practice an extra glitzy take on the genre reminiscent of groups like Paramore or VersaEmerge. This characterization may be due in large part to the strong feminine vocals on here, but these guys do in fact have a radio-oriented, shimmery sound. The electronics definitely take the lead on here and sit at the front of the mix &#8211; probably second to only the vocals. These guys know what they&#8217;re doing.
