Silica’s ‘Wind-Up Doll’ is pensively atmospheric punk-tinged indie rock with a deep pop sensibility. The band describes itself as where “punk rock energy meets indie rock creativity.” In short, they are, “energetic and emotional.” These guys do an awesome job of fusing flowing, dramatic synths and other electronic elements with emotive, melodic guitar work. Behind that, a driving rhythm section that knows when to stay in the pocket and when to go all in keeps everything on track. It seems like some connections could be made to groups like Paramore, New Found Glory or Northstar – especially in regard to the way the vocals and guitar work intertwine. This is a solid piece of music from a talented band. Check out ‘Wind-Up Doll’ below!
