<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5939" src="https://rockthepigeon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/12-17-18-Sunbather.jpeg?w=878" alt="12 17 18 Sunbather.jpeg" width="439" height="439" />Sunbather&#8217;s &#8216;Get Away&#8217; is immersive ambient rock music with an amorphous oceanic quality. This solo artist describes his work as a &#8220;DIY musical project where I take over all musical duties, including production/engineering and artwork.&#8221; He says that Durham, North Carolina &#8220;is where I currently live, but Kingston, Pennsylvania is where I grew up and has musically influenced me the most.&#8221; The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area in northeast Pennsylvania has a notoriously strong alternative rock scene, but it&#8217;s surprising to hear something this expansive and surfy come out of that inland coal hub. Something about this track feels deeply reminiscent of an Atlantic barrier island. I know that&#8217;s a weirdly specific image, but I think the assertion stands and could very well have been intentional. You can kind of feel the cool, calm waves washing over you within in the framework of restrained cultural conservatism and individualist idealism that can be found in places like Cape Cod, Maryland&#8217;s eastern shore or even Long Island before the subdivisions.
