Holy Fawn’s ‘Drag Me Into the Woods’ Is Unnervingly Immersive Ambient Rock

9 19 18 Holy FawnHoly Fawn’s ‘Drag Me Into the Woods’ is unnervingly immersive ambient rock that faces dark atmospherism off against sweet, melodic undertones. Simply, the band puts it as, “loud, heavy pretty noises.” Their people say they, “combine ambient tones with a frantic video shot in the woods of Arizona,” utilizing “melodic post rock in a grunge fashion,” reminiscent of “Chelsea Wolfe, Diiv and This Will.” Like Explosions in the Sky or Duster, these guys bring a distinct pop sensibility to the untethered world they create. This is kind of a scary, jarring piece, but at the same time there’s something deeply accessible and very relatable about it. There really do seem to be two diametrically opposed values facing off here. It’s a beautifully song. Check out ‘Drag Me Into the Woods’ below!
