Coalescer’s ‘Destroying the Planet’ is deeply atmospheric heavy music with a creepy, isolated tone. These guys describe themselves as, “an electro-rock-experimental-industrial band from Switzerland founded in 2018. The first album,” which this track is on, follows “a man, afraid of the town and living in the forest.” This song, which in a lot of ways is disarmingly formless, really does have the cold and rocky, yet green and invigorated sense one would expect of the Swiss Alps. That’s probably because, as the band says, ninety-five percent of the work on this album was in fact recorded in a Swiss forest. These guys really bring a sense of life and character to an industrial take. That’s not easy to achieve. This is a really unique piece of work from a truly creative band.
