Cursiveโ€™s โ€˜Remorseโ€™ Is a Broad, Experimental Indie Soundscape

Cursiveโ€™s โ€˜Remorseโ€™ is an expansive, keys-heavy soundscape from the Nebraska heavyweights. As Iโ€™ve discussed before, these guys formed an important part of Nebraskaโ€™s indie rock scene in the nineties into the two-thousands. Since then, Tim Kasher has continued to lead this band on increasingly ambitious, broad projects in a pensive, experimental vein of rock music. This track certainly plays into that. Although it starts out as a post-rock-style soundscape rooted in mellow keys and distortion, the end of the piece storms up before it descending into the recorded destruction of a grand piano. Interestingly, Kasherโ€™s calm, understated vocals provide a nice sense of structure for this otherwise amorphous track. Thereโ€™s something deeply haunting about this piece in a cinematic way.
