<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Austin-based independent pop singer and dancer, Jxckson, best describes his sound as “Pop Fusion” &#8211; taking the foundation of pop music and experimenting with different sound elements like hip hop and rock. Jxckson’s long journey to the starting line began with his 2019 debut single “Icarus”. Singing and dancing since the age of 2, he just knew this was what he was meant to do. Now Jxckson turns his decades-long love affair for pop music into writing infectious melodies with witty lyrics and metaphors. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The song starts with a phone call and a slow paced R&;B instrumental. We are then welcomed with Jxckson’s soft vocal delivery for the first verse, with the production of the instrumental perfectly intertwining along each lyric. When the chorus hits, we are <em>stuck in Jxckson’s trance,</em> where his vocals <em>float us through the clouds.</em> The second verse compliments the chorus eloquently, with the same emotion and lyrical direction of the first verse.<em> I feel very sexy</em> <em>just listening to the song. </em>All in all, this song is a <em>must add</em> to any steamy music playlist.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What inspired you to make this song?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I’m a visual thinker, so I approach each song with a strong visual image in my head. For some reason, I had this almost Film Noir-esque vision of someone lounging in an empty hotel, dialing up their secret lover for a late-night forbidden rendezvous. There was something dark, confident, and sexy about the idea of singing from the perspective of the “other lover” fully accepting their role in the love affair. </em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What does this track mean to you?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>It’s a new beginning honestly. I haven’t released an original solo track since my debut EP ‘Paradox’ &#8211; which was released back in May of 2021. Since then, I’ve been writing and experimenting with different sounds. So, “The Low” is my first track where that experimentation has come to life. </em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What was your favorite part about making this song?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I enjoyed playing with the more jazz-like moments. It gave the track a more sultry feel to it, that I originally didn’t expect. It just naturally came out during the recording process. </em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Where did you record this song, and what are the vibes like in the studio with you?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>There’s not much I love more than being in the studio. Just something about it. I recorded “The Low” at Orb Recording Studios here in Austin, Texas. I always record with my sound engineer, Victor Gaspar, at this studio. The vibes are always great. We’re usually bouncing ideas back and forth, and creative energy in the room is radiate. I always leave the studio feeling like I did my best work. </em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Was this track release cathartic for you?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>VERY cathartic. I’ve been antsy to get new music out there and it’s surreal that it’s out there now. This track especially feels more exposed and intimate than my previous releases &#8211; so I’m feeling more vulnerable than I have with those releases. </em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What keeps you motivated?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I’m a creative type who loves music. Sounds simple but that’s enough to keep me motivated. I’ve been obsessed with music videos since I was a child, so I’m always finding new videos to watch and rewatching classics. This cycle keeps me fueled and excited to see what I can do with my own music and my own vision. There’s also something powerful about creating whatever I want. </em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What can we expect next from you?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I’m primarily focused on singles, so you can expect a lot of singles from me this year… another one might be out sooner than you think *wink*.</em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>What other artists are you listening to right now?</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>I’m obsessively listening to music all the time, so it changes often haha. One recent constant in my rotation though has been Lolo Zouai. Her music is a major influence on how I approach sound design and how I like my vocals mixed now. I’ve also been getting back into kpop again &#8211; which I started listening to back in 2008 &#8211; so I have an on-and-off relationship with the genre. Two songs, in particular, that are on repeat are “Who Are You” by BamBam featuring Seulgi from Red Velvet and “Maverick” by The Boyz.</em></p>
