<p>British recording artist and singer-songwriter Daniel Schamroth is out with his must-hear 6-song EP, &#8220;Major Companion.&#8221; The sound of this all-acoustic EP is inspired by classic rock era singer-songwriters, while seamlessly weaving in the sounds of 90s indie rock anthems. Daniel Schamroth presents a collection of songs that fit very well together, they flow through the emotions of life, track by track, without holding back at all. This is a raw collection, down to the production. The sound is more real than all pop records, and definitely more real than most acoustic records of recent times.</p>
<p>&#8220;Dying to Feel Alive&#8221; is the introduction to the record and a grand introduction to Daniel Schamroth&#8217;s emotive sound. Listeners will immediately be hooked in by the catchy vocal melodies and raw emotion coming through. Strings lift the song to new heights, while the acoustic guitar strums warmly underneath. <em>&#8220;Am I losing my mind, dying to feel alive?&#8221; </em>Schamroth gives voice to the feelings, that as humans, we all experience. There is a lyric for everybody in this song.</p>
<p>Brighter chords kick off &#8220;Lonely Old Heart.&#8221; This song is about loneliness and longing. Schamroth sings candidly about drinking all night and missing interacting with his friends. The only help he has left is himself and his songs. This song ebbs and flows in energy, distorted electric guitars bring a new energy to the song for its chorus section. Overall, this song is a great, dynamic performance and showcases another side to Schamroth&#8217;s songwriting styles.</p>

<p>&#8220;Rat Race&#8221; resonates in its minor key. Soft and smooth vocals flow throughout the song, giving the listeners another side of Daniel Schamroth&#8217;s vocal range and style. He sings openly about more of the lows of life, feeling stuck in a capitalistic system, and the want to move up in life. The song is made complete with a catchy chorus section. &#8220;If I Got You&#8221; follows a similar tone of songwriting, while having more uplifting lyrics. We hear a surge of positivity in this song. With a focus on connection and love he smoothly sings the catchy chorus part, <em>&#8220;I swear we&#8217;ll make it somehow&#8230;never really shouldn&#8217;t have a doubt, there&#8217;s nothing to lose, If I got you, if I got you&#8230;&#8221; </em>Daniel Schamroth shimmers in his head voice throughout the song, showing us another range of his voice, and adding another layer of talent to the EP.</p>
<p>When we asked him about his favorite song on the EP he said <em>&#8220;I’m proud of every song on this record so it’s difficult to pick out just one. Depends on what kind of mood I’m in, but right now my favourite is ‘If I Got You’ as it’s a very honest, heartfelt sentiment and it’s one of those songs that just fell out of the sky. I love the string arrangements on this one too, it gives it that epic feel sonically which I’m really satisfied with.&#8221; </em></p>
<p>The guitar style shifts into a folky ballad sound for &#8220;Don&#8217;t Let It Get You Down.&#8221; This song could serve as an anthem for anyone that is going through a hard time right now. The peaceful energy coming through the track can be very healing for anyone that needs a shoulder to lean on, let that shoulder be this song. He sings, &#8220;Don&#8217;t let it get you down, set yourself free, don&#8217;t let it get you down, let yourself be.&#8221; One of my personal favorite parts of this song are the electric guitars that are playing a very catchy riff.</p>
<p>The EP ends as strongly as it has started, and has stayed throughout its run, with the song &#8220;Cold Wind Blowing.&#8221; Gorgeous acoustic guitar picking takes us home. <em>&#8220;Where you are is really not that far, from the place that you wish to be.&#8221; </em>Schamroth provides us with another song that can bring hope to the listener. Throughout the EP, listeners will realize that they are not alone in their struggles, being human is a universal experience, including all the emotions that come with it. This song gives some advice to the listener and encourages them to not give up. The future seems brighter&#8230;</p>
<p>Daniel Schamroth talks about the inspiration behind the song selection and the EPs title. He explains, as a songwriter, how songs can be your best friend and the thing that helps you navigate through the hardest times of life. As a songwriter myself, I really resonate with his statement.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong><em>I didn’t have a grand plan for the record as a whole from the beginning. I had a list of songs that I felt were strong and took them to Guy (my producer) and we set about recording. It’s not until they were all recorded that I realised this is a very personal collection of songs, some of which I recorded years ago. So the songs are kind of like old friends and that’s how I got on to the title ‘Major Companion’. It’s actually stolen from an old sixties electric organ that I have which is called a Selmer Major Companion (it’s pictured on the EP art work) and I liked that phrase, like the songs are the companion, the old friend that helps you through the hard times, that was the inspiration for the title and I feel that’s the common thread run it through these songs…hope in the dark times. &#8211; Daniel Schamorth </em></strong></p></blockquote>
