‘General Airborne’ by Standard Legal Is DAW-Based Dream Pop

Standard Legal’s ‘General Airborne’ is sleepy, shoegaze-influenced dream pop straight out of Los Angeles. This song off the new album Mercury is “composed primarily of Apple loops.” It blends together, “strands of outsider-pop, EDM, garage punk, UK dubstep, psychedelia, and who knows what else.” “It is lyrically tied together by a fascination with violence and uncertainty,” the artist says, “albeit refusing to take sides.” This unique, deeply dreamy track does a great job of putting the listener into a trance. The decidedly canned nature of the sounds chosen gives the song a sense of reclamation. It takes some of the blandest musical bases and twists them into something worth listening to, which is kind of amazing when you think about it. You’ll probably be hearing more from Standard Legal soon. Check out ‘General Airborne’ below!
