Pacing The Cage’s ‘Thrill Pill’ is intense, hard-hitting Australian hard rock. This “provocative tale to impeach the behavior of men who treat women like they are objects of entitlement and consumption,” is meant to expose, “masculinity in all it’s shameful glory.” The progressive, decidedly non-traditional lyrical approach is a nice change of pace in a genre defined to some extent by toxic masculinity and the subjugation of women. These guys bring a distinctly grunge-influenced sense of melody to a fast, modern take on classic hard rock. There aren’t a lot of frills in here, but that’s what gives the piece its punch.
