Boo Riley’s ‘Kinetic Collector’ Is Upbeat, Eclectic Indie Pop with Unmistakable Soul

7 5 18 Boo RileyBoo Riley’s ‘Kinetic Collector’ is upbeat, eclectic indie pop with a lot to offer. “Boo Riley is the musical moniker of Manhattanite, Austin Lesch,” this musician reports. His goal is “to create complex yet accessible tunes that draw inspiration from classic rock, 80s pop and indie whilst evoking the magic of a California night drive.” There’s a lot of different stuff going on here, but the strong influence past generations of pop music has had on Lesch is clear. There’s a funky, layered complexity that’s a lot of fun. On top of everything, some hauntingly beautiful soprano vocals tie the airy, unrestrained piece together. Some comparisons could definitely be drawn to figures like Prince or Bruno Mars, but this guy has a sound all his own. Check out ‘Kinetic Collector’ below!
