<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4284" src="https://rockthepigeon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/7-28-18-the-bummers.jpg?w=902" alt="7 28 18 The Bummers.jpg" width="451" height="451" />&#8216;Garbage People&#8217; by The Bummers is janky, melodic punk rock with an interesting lyrical premise. The song is &#8220;is about future humans living in their own trash,&#8221; the band says. This simple, kind of comical take clearly has more serious environmental undertones. It&#8217;s nice to see a band with a conscience that has the musical chops to back it up. Vocally, these guys are really on the mark. The frontman&#8217;s straightforward approach and tender way with words is really engaging. Lyrically, it&#8217;s nice to see a group coming from a post-hardcore or melo-punk background changing things up a little bit. This is kind of sad, but it&#8217;s refreshingly unpersonal. Behind the words, some complex, dueling guitar strumming creates a heavily layered effect most emo bands would kill for. And of course, under everything, an unrelenting rhythm section gives the melodies a rock solid sonic platform to lay on. These guys really know what they&#8217;re doing.
