Away Team’s ‘Falling Behind’ Is Crisp Coloradan Emo

Away Team’s ‘Falling Behind’ is some crisp, glum pop punk out of Colorado. “Started by a run-in at a Colfax Speed Queen show, a few Craigslist posts and a couple sessions at a grungy hourly practice space in Denver,” these guys say they “burst into the Denver music scene with poise, bravado and experience working in their favor.” The band consists of “members of Marti And The Dads, More Than Heroes, Panther Martin, Super Bummer and Whitacre,” and “combine nostalgic emo vibes with modern pop-punk energy.” This is a pretty straightforward track. It’s very emo. The lyrics convey that clearly, but the guitars are also pretty dark and gritty. I would say the bass really stands out on here. It gives the piece a groovy melodicism that helps carry the glum the storyline along. This is a neat track from a cool band. Check out ‘Falling Behind’ below!
