Ithomiid’s ‘Earthbound’ is punishingly melodic hardcore with some clear cues from the metal and alt-rock worlds. They describe their approach as featuring, “introspective lyrics backed with a progressive hybrid of fast paced punk and heavy hard metal.” These guys are bringing a lot of different things to the table here and cover a lot of ground. At its core, this could be described as a deeply melodic, personally-oriented vein of hardcore like Counterparts or Bane. Much of their guitar work is reminiscent of certain post-hardcore groups like At the Drive-In or Dance Gavin Dance. This is a little rough in terms or production and at times the song feels like it could use more structure, but all-in-all this a really good showing from a new band. Check out ‘Earthbound’ below!
