Sandy Allen’s ‘Napper’ Is Chilled Out, Gaze-y Alt Rock from Washington State

10 22 18 NapperSandy Allen’s ‘Napper’ is slow, relaxed alternative rock with a melodically fuzzy approach. The crew from the “Olympia underground,” describes itself as, “tweegaze.” I’m not really sure exactly what that is, but I think it’s safe to say it has something to do with shoegaze. These guys have a distorted sound whose slow, saccharine crawl has a lot of throwback vibes. Obviously, these guys are taking a lot from nineties groups like My Bloody Valentine or Codeine, but under that it almost feels like there’s a fifties burger-stand-and-motoring vibe. This seems like the kind of music the characters from Grease would write if they became proficient musicians and got really into lean. This is a vibe-y track from an interesting band.
