You’ll feel the emotion and total honesty in Meg Myers’s song “Tear Me to Pieces” from her new album, Take Me to the Disco. Myers’s vocals, while pretty and feminine, also destroy you with the pain she’s feeling and exuding. The chorus is angry and reminiscent of classic metal, but the verses offer an auditory reprieve, even as they are somehow more emotional. While the anger comes out in the chorus, her intense pain comes through when the music softens and lets her voice shine. The song overall is mesmerizing, captivating, and heart-wrenching.
