Irish Fury’s ‘Dance of Denial’ Is Funky, Strangely Poppy Hard Rock

8 16 18 Irish FuryIrish Fury’s ‘Dance of Denial’ is funky hard rock with a decidedly political lyrical approach. “We are looking to capture a heavy vibe with crushing guitars and synths,” the band says, “in the spirit of old school progressive rock.” These guys definitely have an Operation: Mindcrime-era Queensryche vibe, but there’s definitely some other stuff going on here. There’s a kind of campy, retro pop vibe that clashes in a really interesting way with dark lyrical theme of gun violence. The bass definitely serves as the compositional keystone for this piece. Over it’s funky, poppy groove, there are perfect little divets for the more melodic element elements of the band to exist in. This is a quality composition from a strange, very unique band.
