‘Out of My Head’ by Ponte Pilas Is Old School Hard Rock Out of Berlin

10 9 18 Ponte Pilas‘Out of My Head’ by Ponte Pilas is four-on-the-floor old school hard rock with a garage-influenced sensibility. The band describes this tune as, “a tribute to the powerful sensation of altered states of mind in a turbulent three-minute-forty-second journey.” This single, along with two the group plans to release before February 2019, “will further develop and diversify the band’s style, whilst maintaining their commitment to making anthemic rock music that echoes the glory days of guitar music,” they say. After a wonky, off-kilter intro, these musicians launch into an energetic, all-out ode to groups like The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. Their decidedly retro sensibility seems to put them in a similar boat to The Hives or The Raconteurs. In spite of that, these guys have shirked the post-punk sensibilities that gives many (but not all, of course) in that scene a cold intellectualism. The group employs a warm, fuzzy and fun approach that wouldn’t feel out of place at a seventies-themed pool party or a movie like Almost Famous. This is a fun track from an energetic band.
