The Bare Minimum’s ‘Safe Bet’ is short, intensely melodic punk rock with an irreverent, traditionalist take. This, they say, is “the first track from our upcoming EP Where the Buses Don’t Come,” which will be out on November 2nd. These guys have a pretty well-defined anti-consumerist, spitfire approach to their genre. The short, kind of structureless nature of the song is reminiscent of grindcore or crust punk. At the same time, they utilize a Gilman Street-style melodicism to soften the edges of this buzzsaw tune. The sardonic, overtly critical commentary they convey through their surprisingly high production value music video serves as a nice clarification of their general message. This is a nice little rager from an intense band. Check out ‘Safe Bet’ below!
