Exmiranda’s ‘Grip’ Fuses a Traditional Rap Approach with a Literary Sensibility

10 16 18 ExmirandaExmiranda’s ‘Grip’ is fast, technical rap with a laid-back, minimalist trap beat. This artist is “inspired by grime, hip hop, afro beats and feel good music,” she says. “I have been rapping for the past five years after transitioning from performing spoken word and poetry.” This track does a really good job of fusing a sense of urgency and intensity with a more chilled out atmospheric vibe. The lowkey, almost kind of understated nature of the beat really lets the vocal performance shine. Clearly, this rapper is very skilled. She brings the rhetoric and academic sensibility of the literary world to her very technically-proficient delivery. Don’t sleep on this artist – she’s going places. Check out ‘Grip’ below!
