Midnight Kids is a master producer duo made up of Dylan Lee and Kyle Girard. They are widely known for their alluring remixes and have gained support from popular acts such as Gryffin, The Chainsmokers, and Shaun Frank. They released their first original work “Find Our Way” in 2018 and their momentum hasn’t slowed from there. Last week they debuted a music video for their newest original song “Those Were the Days”. This song was made in collaboration with Jared Lee who performs lead vocals on the track. Lee is a globally renowned singer, songwriter, and music producer who has worked with world renowned artists like Jason Derulo, Jordin Sparks, New Kids On The Block, and more.
The video is a creative montage following a group of teenagers, portrayed by the Midnight Kids and others, as they enjoy the uninhibited freedom of youth. It has an old film reel vintage feel that takes you back to the nostalgia of those seemingly never ending summer days and nights chilling with friends. The song has a catchy beat and chorus and Jared Lee’s vocals beautifully compliment the vibe of the video. This dope track will have you dancing and grooving along.
It struck a chord with me personally because I grew up in Southern California and spent so many summers biking around my neighborhood and lighting up sparklers on the beach with friends. It brought back memories of all my old friends who I’ve fallen out of touch with over the years and made me smile thinking about all the good times we had. When a music video can invoke those kinds of feelings in its audience I think it’s perfectly done its job. “Those Were the Days” is the perfect track to add to your chill summer night playlist.
