“Inequality” – a song hard rocker Ivan Beecroft calls “a protest song about the ever widening gap between the ‘haves and have nots'” – is the lead track from his latest album, Liars, Freaks & Fools. As with the other 9 tracks that follow on the album, “Inequality” sees Beecroft bring his distinct blend of 90s grunge, 70s protometal, and punk rock DIY ethic front and center to show off his unique style to the masses.
While all of the tracks display this unique and powerful rock sound, it’s “Inequality” that sets the tone for the album by demonstrating a certain social awareness and class consciousness that Beecroft clearly wants flowing into the listeners’ ears from the first note on. Raised in a working class family, Beecroft knows first hand what it’s like to struggle to get ahead. Even as a musician, his struggles have been there through every step.
Battling through the death of his parents, Beecroft turned his struggles into fuel for aggressive rock music that he beleived could be a catalyst for good. Beecroft’s musical aspirations were derailed when a drug-fueled attack causes his bass player to become partially deaf and blind. After walking away from music, his wife bought him a new guitar for his birthday and he rediscovered his love for music, honing his craft until he was able to actually play and record every instrument for his project by himself.
The resulting album is a solid listen for fans of harder rock and is available via Spotify.
