The Musician by Jordan Nickel-Dubin

The Musician

Mindlessly strumming in the green
Not sure where to go from here
The sun sets
As new sunshine appears
I want to be like you
Smile clear through the patterned mask
I want to play
I want to feel free
Time stops
Mood changes
The negative fades away
Fingers plucking strings
Plucking anecdotes to share
From a lifetime of passion
The years of struggling to make it
Whatever it was
Masked by the youthful interest
Temporary magic
A conversation that may only last
A short while for one
A lifetime for another
The sunshine thankful
Disappears
The sun always sets
But that imprint
That impact
Lasts forever
