Throughout “DEDICATION”‘s 4:34 runtime, Chicago rapper and certified powerhouse 3LSII delivers an unrelenting flow of hard-earned perspective, laser focus, and pride- not dealt with bravado but with fed-up, righteous truth. We all should be so lucky to hear her out.

“DEDICATION” begins with the hook, and keeps punching. 3LSII skewers presidents united by their distance from Black communities, breezes through the reputation she has amassed in the South Side, and name checks fellow Chicago icon Fred Hampton, assassinated by police in 1969, before tying all of this into a shout-out to a slain friend. “Please don’t disrespect him,” she pleads, before moving on.
“DEDICATION” is full of details specific to 3LSII’s life, passed through to the listener through seemingly clenched teeth with a thumping beat. Her flow is both melodic and pinpoint, making use of the rhythms and intonations present in her message without losing the driving force of her conviction. Her website monikers her as “street but sweet,” and how sweet it is to take in every word 3LSII has to offer.
“DEDICATION” is out now wherever you stream music.
