Ben Stalets Teases New Record with “Maybe Love’s Not All We Need”

Ohio-based singer-songwriter Ben Stalets is an artist that I’ve been proudly listening to for about a decade now. He’s released his latest song “Maybe Love’s Not All We Need” on all streaming platforms. The songwriting is some of his personal best, wish personal lyrics that dive into the inner workings and worries of his brain. However, these lyrics are shared experiences among many humans.

“This song is pretty much the amalgamation of a series of traumatic and enlightening events that I went through to realize you need more than just “love” in your life. For example, lawyers, doctors, therapists, etc. But, if you live long enough, everyone becomes a hypocrite; so at the end I take it all back and say “maybe we will comfort us / unlike the myth’s we’ve conceived”. Which is love. Also, The Beatles. This is me trying to undo a deep cut they wrote about love being all we need.” Ben Stalets

This folky song features authentic instrumentation from start to finish. The song slowly builds into an anthemic full band sound with soaring electric guitars. The melodies drift away from Alt-Americana and become slightly psychedelic, showcasing a different side of Ben Stalets. Ben Stalets album Everybody’s Laughing is due out on  8/27/21 on WhistlePig Records.
