
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sparse instrumentation and melancholy fill the negative space of Frisch&#8217;s newest single, a resigned look back at one&#8217;s life.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8220;Just Look at Me Now&#8221; begins as many works of music do, detailing the aspects of one&#8217;s being &#8220;on top of the world.&#8221; Yet the exploits of fame detailed by Eric Frisch in the opening lines of &#8220;Just Look at Me Now&#8221; differ from any braggadocious leanings in that these exploits are mourned rather than exalted. The somber detailing of a life lived in vain is a painful reminder of mortality itself, and the wavering tones of Frisch&#8217;s rich voice serve as a reminder of the temporal nature of one&#8217;s golden years. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The music here is sweetly simplistic, following a chord progression somewhere between a hymn and a deep cut by the Band. Its pastoral nature and lilting pace make &#8220;Look at Me Now&#8221; feel almost dreamlike, something wavering just out of view and finished before one has a chance to grasp it. Cutting through the waves of ether is the refrain, a sorrowful and sober reflection upon oneself in which, presumably, the narrator does not like what they see. Whether the song comes from the perspective of a fabricated character, Frisch&#8217;s personal experience, or a blending of the two is unknown. Should it speak truth to the songwriter, I would only hope that he turn his gaze forward, as I can imagine only good things can come from the patience and melodic understanding displayed here. &#8220;Just Look at Me Now&#8221; is out now and streaming everywhere, be sure to check it out!</p>
