Essy Releases New Electro Pop Track “Dear Kathleen”

A song for all good moods and good vibes, “Dear Kathleen” by Essy is a song for everyone!

Essy, born Rachel Braig, taught herself to play piano and began writing her own songs at eleven years old. While studying undergrad at the University of Virginia, fate intervened when a piano ballad she composed caught the attention of EDM duo Ship Wrek.

Essy’s first cut with Star Party soon followed, which prompted an early graduation from college to write alongside Johnluke Lewis (LANY, Don Diablo), Will Robinson (The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama), Hunter Hayes, Jintae Ko (OneRepublic), Paris Carney (Adam Lambert, Bea Miller), Daniel Agee (Jessie James Decker), and Mike Pappas (Meghan Trainor).

Blending a love for 80s rock with her own synth production, Essy began writing and producing her artist project in late 2019, with her singles racking up over 5 million streams and over 50k monthly listeners. Her second EP “Cry For Me” received nods from Rolling Stone and Earmilk, calling her one of the “freshest voices in the US.” Her first full length record is due 2022.

Proclaimed as one of the freshest voices out of the U.S., Nashville-based synthpop artist Essy is making waves. Thriving in a self-proclaimed happy-sad mode, Essy brings her hard-hitting lyrics, 80s grooves, and synthtar to the stage for everyone to dance the night away. Racking over 5 million streams on Spotify alone, 2022 is only the beginning. (source: https://www.ticketweb.com/event/evan-giia-momentum-tour-w-the-basement-east-tickets/12499555?pl=basementeast)

The new track “Dear Kathleen” starts with the high energy electro pop vibe that is reminiscent of MUNA, immediately capturing us into the track. As the song progresses, Essy’s voice makes us feel like we’re floating in the air to the track. I find myself enamored by the vocal melodies and eloquent songwriting, with the vibes consistently lifting us up as the listener. Through and through, the song is catchy and full of energy. It’s definitely an unforgettable track that I’ll be listening to for weeks to come.
