Dü’s ‘So Sweet’ Will Make You Want to Dü the Dü

4 17 18 Du 2

Dü’s new track, ‘So Sweet’, is some dejected, low-key alternative rap. The track is defined by the dual vocal approach. Singer Celia Bolgatz’s sweet, soulful crooning contrasts and compliments rapper Matt Hall’s throaty, mumbled bars. The beat is jumpy and kind of squeaky, differentiating Dü from most of its rhythmically homogenous contemporaries. The little bass accents that found there way into the track do a lot to help fill out the mix and add some complexity to a straightforward piece. It seems like these guys took their name from post-hardcore forbearers Hüsker Dü, so it’s safe to say they’re working some less conventional influences into their music. These guys have a lot to offer. Go check them out!
