Wow, Okay, Cool Prove They Are One Of The Best Live Bands With “A Note to my Enemies”

Wow, Okay, Cool! I mean they were more than okay, they were more than cool, they were definitely WOW. Wow, Okay, Cool is one of the best bands that I saw live in 2026. They brought a fierce energy to the stage that is captivating and empowering to experience as a concert goer. Their show, in New Haven, CT at Cafe Nine brought a sense of belonging to me and I could tell that the other audience members felt the same as they headbanged and moshed to the music. As I stood in the crowd, I could feel the queer and trans joy, I could feel the love and support that they feel for their audience. The show was intimate and personal, the audience wasn’t big in numbers, but that didn’t stop Wow, Okay, Cool from giving the energy of a show of 5000 people. This band knows how to rock.

The band recently released a new EP titled “If This is Where it Got Us, What Good is it?” and friends you cannot sleep on this EP or this band. There is a song on this EP that serves as a great introduction to Wow, Okay, Cool’s legendary sound, so get ready to dive in deeper…

“A Note to my Enemies” hits hard from the first guitar stabs. Distorted power chords roar to life, then the vocals come in, punk as fuck. The snare drum snaps as the song takes off into a powerhouse display of rock n’ roll. The lyrics are written for the revolution, and the energy will certainly rev you up to get more involved. This is a well written song for the times we are living in, carrying all the rage and angst and putting it to music.

“A Note to My Enemies” was the last song we wrote for the album. I had been listening to a lot of 2000’s indie and punk like Bloc Party, Interpol, and The Hives, plus Gang of Four is always on rotation for me. I wanted to write something that channeled the ‘angular guitars’ (for lack of a more descriptive term) those bands deliver, and eventually came up with the verse hook. Brendo put his own spin on the drums I had programmed to play along with that riff, and we built the tune up from there. Lyrically, the song (and to an extent the album as a whole) is a refusal to accept the bleak future that currently lies ahead of us. The titular line “A note to my enemies…” that opens the chorus is a reference to a tweet by the Srsly Wrong podcast I have printed on a sticker:
‘@srslywrong: message to my enemies: when the revolution comes you’re not just gonna get the wall, buddy, you’re gonna get four walls, a roof, clean clothes, good food, education, and quality health care, because that’s what every human being alive deserves’,”. – Tim of Wow, Okay, Cool
