‘Get Terrified’ by itoldyouiwouldeatyou Is the Best of Modern Emo-Influenced Queercore

5 4 18 itoldyouiwouldeatyou‘Get Terrified’ by itoldyouiwouldeatyou is some decidedly queer, mathy emo music. The music video, which features a glitzy, fictionalized take on the band’s set, is a lot of fun. The group’s strong, emotive lyrics float over a mix packed to the brim. Sparkly, tapping guitars exist on top of complex drums and some well-produced, pocketed bass lines. The horns, which are featured in much of the band’s music, work really well here. In this genre, they often just belie a vague allegiance to the Kinsella brothers’ work, but on ‘Get Terrified’ they seem like an honest, well-executed part of the mix and the composition as a whole. These guys are at the forefront of the emotive queercore movement. Check out the music video for ‘Get Terrified’ below!
