‘Noxious Thoughts’ by Diva Cop is a heavy, bass-driven post-punk track. This “raucous duo from Denton, TX,” consists of “recording engineer Brack Cantrell [of Glass Caverns] and Jared Starcher [of Mother Tongues].” These guys are clearly rooted in post-punk, but they bring in elements of drum and bass, noise rock and post-hardcore as well. ‘Noxious Thoughts’ is built almost entirely on quality bass riffage. An obvious comparison would be Ontario’s Death From Above. What really stands out about this track is it’s ability to hit hard without resigning itself to heavy distortion or overcrowding the mix. Clearly, having a well-respected audio in the expert in the band has served Diva Cop well. Check out ‘Noxious Thoughts’ below!
